Disco Juice (Essential Summer Jams 2024)

Midnight Riot have done more than most to shape and define the sound of contemporary disco and disco-house, so a new compilation from the label is always gonna be worth checking and this latest offering doesn’t disappoint. It opens with the soaring ‘Music’ from Audiowhores and Groove Assassin a two-for-one deal that sets out the stall for an album that packs contributions from many scene faves including the likes of Suki Soul, Jet Boot Jack, Jaegerossa, Yam Who?. Groovemasta and Reece Johnson. The compilers have still found room to include cuts from some lesser-known names, though and theres even an appearance by first-gen disco diva Carol Jiani best known for 1980s Hit N Run Lover, whose fine tonsils flex all over Rogajams Get On The Dancefloor. All told, its Saturday night thrill-a-thon from start to finish.
